AT WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY
Support Groups
Students leading the support groups have been trained in active
listening and support group facilitation by CAPS. They serve as
co-facilitators and participants within each group and are
supervised by Dr. D'Andrea, director of CAPS. The groups do
not provide therapy, but rather exist so students can get and
give support. Groups maintain a strict policy of confidentiality
in order to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all
attendees.
The General Peer Support group offers students an
environment in which they can find a supportive community
of peers who are also struggling with stress, anxiety, depression,
loneliness, mood disorders, or anything else of that nature. This
group is open to anyone who needs a safe place to discuss what is
happening in their life, or even just needs to unwind from the
stresses of college in order to take care of their mental well being.
